About Brett

Brett is the product of Covenant Kennels innovative breeding program, which has combined some great field and show dogs.  Brett and her brother, Brody, are one-quarter field bred and three-quarters show bred.  And they've got the looks and intensity in the field to prove it.  After a lot of agonizing over pictures, we drove all the way to Oklahoma to make sure we got the girl we needed for our breeding program.  Brett has even more to offer than gorgeous looks and great hunting skills though.  Brett is a total sweetheart, and always makes me laugh.  We do tease her a bit about being a girly-girl, but she will get dirty with the boys and play with the best of them.  Thank you to Leslie and Jay Toney for letting us have this awesome girl.

Brett the Show Dog

Brett is just starting her show career.  She made some good impressions in her first shows.  Brett is petite and feminine, and very typey.  She is well put together and has very correct Pointer movement.  We think that she has everything we need for our future breeding program.  But, right now, Brett is just having fun, growing up, and showing the world how gorgeous a dual-purpose Pointer can be.

Brett the Birddog

Brett has a seriously intense, classic-style point.  Brett and her brother, Brody, are 1/4 field bred and 3/4 show bred Pointers and have the best of both worlds in the field.  They are intense on point and point with level tails, have great noses, a small range (perfect for foot hunting), and hunt in partnership with us (checking in and coming when called) with no formal training in that area.  They also swim and retrieve.  At Birdsboro, we think that all it should take to make a great basic hunting dog is exposure and kindness with common sense from the owner, not shock collars or a lot of knowledge about training.  By a basic hunting dog, we mean a dog that will hunt for you, not take off, point and hold it until you can shoot the bird, and has a decent retrieve.  We get dogs from lines that are able to do this, and aim to breed dogs that can do it just a little better.  Advanced training (steady to wing and shot for example), will require more work, but is of course doable.  We have trained Boone and Garrett to a much higher level than is expected by most hunters

We will get pictures up of Brett in the field as soon as we take some.

Here are pictures of Brett pestering our cat, Gaia, who was on the other side of the invisible fence.
