Meaning of Name: Brody means "brother" which is fitting since we got Brody's sister, Brett, first and then Brody flew out a week later. And it matches his laid-back, go with the flow attitude.
Nicknames: Squishy, Moose
Special Talents: Brody (like Boone and Brett) is a smiler! We are so happy to have some new smilers in the house since we adore the trait in Boone. Like our Garrett, Brody also has a knack for sleeping on his back. As soon as we put him in our bedroom for the night, he instantly finds his spot leaning up against the wall on his back and passes out.

About Brody
There are some dogs that you agonize over, dream of, and plan for. And then, there are those that you just stumble upon and know they are meant to be part of your life. Brody falls into the latter category. We were introduced to Brody when we were looking for a great girl for our breeding program. We were making the tough decision of which girl to choose from Leslie's great "Noah's Ark" litter. The litter was bred with a pedigree that was made up of one quarter field bred Pointers and three quarters show bred Pointers, which we knew would fit in very well with our breeding goals. Leslie sent us pictures of the pups at three and a half months of age to help us make our decision. I could not help but notice the stunning all white boy with the black head... "big male" was his name, or "Moses" as Leslie had dubbed him. One picture in particular with him starting out over Leslie's pond was the one that really did it for me. But, we didn't need a boy. So, off we went for our long drive to Leslie's house in Oklahoma (15 hours each way and only time to sleep a few hours each night in order to make in home in time). We chose Brett, and I put Brody into Kyle's arms, but he, being the more reasonable one, said we came for a girl. We left late Saturday night for our long drive home. I was thrilled with Brett, but sad at leaving Brody behind. A few hours into the drive home, Kyle agreed that Brody would be a great addition to our family. I waited a couple days after we got home to mull it over, then called Leslie to ask if she'd even let us have Brody. She was planning on keeping him along with his brother, Eli. Leslie said that we could have him if we agreed to show him, and of course we did. Thus, the following weekend, Brody flew out to Detroit where we picked him up and brought him home. And so goes the story of how we got Brody. Thank you to Leslie and Jay Toney for entrusting us with this fabulous boy. We knew he was good-looking, but once we arrived, we were completely smitten by his goofy, loving personality. And a couple weeks after we got him, Brody showed us that, like Boone, he has the ability to smile. He's one in a million, and exhibits everything a Pointer ought to... handsome typey looks, a seriously intense point, and a phenomenal temperament.
Brody the Show Dog
Brody entered the show ring with a bang. His first day out, he took Best of Winners for a 3 point major. In eight days of shows, Brody has gotten Winners Dog seven times. Many of those seven wins, he has also gotten another award (Best of Winners, Best of Opposite, or Best of Breed). Brody has nine points and one major. We know this boy is a great looking boy, and we are excited to watch him grow up and reach his potential.

Brody the Birddog
Brody has a gorgeous, intense point with a stretched out body and the classical style we love. Brody and his sister, Brett, are 1/4 field bred and 3/4 show bred Pointers and have the best of both worlds in the field. They are intense on point and point with level tails, have great noses, a small range (perfect for foot hunting), and hunt in partnership with us (checking in and coming when called) with no formal training in that area. They also swim and retrieve. At Birdsboro, we think that all it should take to make a great basic hunting dog is exposure and kindness with common sense from the owner, not shock collars or a lot of knowledge about training. By a basic hunting dog, we mean a dog that will hunt for you, not take off, point and hold it until you can shoot the bird, and has a decent retrieve. We get dogs from lines that are able to do this, and aim to breed dogs that can do it just a little better. Advanced training (steady to wing and shot for example), will require more work, but is of course doable. We have trained Boone and Garrett to a much higher level than is expected by most hunters.
We will get pictures of Brody in the field up once we get them.
